she's lying outstretched along his bed, fingers entangled in bailey's fur. the sun sets, painting the room in warm hues. she sighs, content and relaxed. bailey shifts slightly, snuggling closer to her, and adora pulls her in with a peaceful smile. it wasn't uncommon for her to wait for mason until he got off work. she enjoyed his company, and the comfort of his home. they'd talk for hours and just enjoy each other's presence. it made adora feel special when mason was happy to see her. he was someone remarkable, and she recognized it even in childhood. groggy eyes searched the mirror on the side of the bed, gauging how disheveled she appeared after cozying up with the pup. she got up, fixing her hair and tugging at the hem of her shirt. reaching for the scrunchie she had left on the nightstand, adora loosely braided her hair, not paying any mind to fly aways. she didn't need to look perfect, but she wasn't about to give mason ammunition to tease her. the alarm clock read 4:30, which meant he would be home any minute. she grabbed a hoodie and headed to the living room, switching on the lights. she expected to hear the sound of his car pulling into the driveway any second. taking a deep breath, she prepared herself for the conversation to come. this is it, she thought to herself. tonight was the night adora was going to tell mason she loved him.
