It’s been two months since Hurricane Irma passed through our little town. Piles of debris still line the roads in many neighborhoods, but our orchid tree has made quite the recovery! #hurricaneirma #twomonthslater #orchidtree #labelleflorida (at Port La Belle, Florida)
We could've had it all.

FYI, I’m still crazy about you.

I got into an argument with a friend, and as almost always happens when I get into arguments something mentioned struck a cord with me. Shots fired included, "You always offend EVERYONE! Its like you don't think before you let stuff out of your mouth!" This could be an opportunity to devolve into a rant about the unfairness of it all, and a denial of my thoughtlessness. That would be wrong of me to do, because it would display an amazing level of hypocrisy and true thoughtlessness on my part, not to mention ego stroking. (Although it might later be argued by publicly talking about it at all, I am stroking my own ego.)
What I found was a number of interesting if repetitive quotes and blog posts. Some of then were along the lines of, "Well, people should just not get offended!", and although that is a good answer, when considered further it is unrealistic. Due to all sorts of stuff, important life stuff, altering people's lives and opinions, attaching meanings and connotations to phrases and words, it will be next to impossible to not automatically disagree with, and be a little hurt by, something someone says or does. In other words, baggage.
To quote author Holly Lisle, “Anything designed to be inoffensive isn't worth your time -- life itself is pretty offensive, ending as it does with death."
Annndd I lost my train of thought. End of story: We are no longer friends, before I lost the thread of what I was writing this was gonna be a decent five-paragraph critical analysis of the nature of why and how people get offended, and the linked articles are interesting (even if they are kind of opinion pieces).
