A Ridge to Nowhere
After a belt of rain spoilt the views from Ivinghoe Beacon (that popular extension of the Dunstable Downs), one drops down to the fields of west Herts. The Two Ridges link runs northward to the Grand Union Canal and follows the waterway to Leighton Buzzard. The pretty landscape is familiar: a set of fields and trackways with the occasional road or lane. At Leighton Buzzard, the Greensand Ridge commences and turns away from the canal to enter an area of woodland that divides Hertfordshire from Buckinghamshire. This is interspersed by some farmland and extends all the way to Woburn, that famous Georgian town. One of the more scenic trackways heading north....
