“Yeah, your Daddy used to tuck me in at night just like that.  I think because he knew our parents weren’t gonna do it, somebody had to.”  She was also the littlest and Grant probably was compensating for the lack of actual parents they had.

“I bet your Uncle Tommy tucks you in pretty well, huh?  Just like your Daddy used to?”  She asked as she kissed her niece’s forehead.

Rose knelt in front of Tamsin, having been coached by Zeke in how to introduce herself to the child.  “Hello Tami.  I’m your Aunt Rose.  It’s so wonderful to meet you.”  She opened her arms for a potential hug if she wanted one.

She did not appreciate being lied to.  Moreover, she did not appreciate her brother locking them in this damn safehouse.  Rose wasn’t claustrophobic but it shouldn’t take a rocket scientist in their family to realize Zeke was.

“You’re a dick.”  She told Grant flat-out, knowing he’d had a long talk with their brother about it already.

Apparently he was from America.  Why his mother had traveled to London with him was beyond him and not something for him to really dwell upon.  Nibs looked around in the rain when he saw a boy sitting under a tree with a dog.  Slowly, he approached.  “Hello.  My name is Nibs.”  It was clear the other boy had been abused too.  He had no one.  “Do you have anyone?  Anything to eat?  I don’t either but I know how to get my hands on things, I can show you the ropes if you like.”  The boy offered with a smile.

“Hi Tamsin.  I’m Winnie, your Uncle Tommy’s Niece.  I suppose that sort of makes us cousins, doesn’t it?”

Some people might have seen that threat as mild at best but Zeke knew his brother.  He’d been profiling him since the moment they’d been reunited - he was dangerous and he knew that this day might come.  But god, he’d hoped it wouldn’t.  He had to take Grant out or die trying.  Die protecting his family.  Shane and Bucky had given him as many pointers as they could, given him a gun and ample magazines and taught him how to hide those in a way that wouldn’t show he was really intending to kill, just protect himself.  From who - that was up to Grant to guess.

His brother had given him a phone to use in only case of emergencies - he’d sent up an emergency signal and true to character his brother had responded quickly and in a blind panic.  Zeke was calm, but he’d always been calm in his adulthood even in a crisis.  Grant knew that.  “H-hello, Grant.”  He said, and luckily there was a tremor to his voice as god he didn’t want to do this but his brother had forced his hand.  There was no reason a panicked Grant wouldn’t think he was in danger.

He’d beaten his fists bloody against the door but the safehouse was reinforced.  No amount of fighting against that door was going to free Zeke.  He was pissed - oh he was fucking pissed - his brother gave him this load of shit that it was for his “protection” but in actuality it was because Zeke had been telling him what he didn’t want to hear.

It was alright, though.  He had a week to prepare and was waiting for Grant when he arrived.  Grant was better trained, Zeke had to even the score.  So, he camped out and waited with his own dried blood on his hands and a rage in his heart.  When Grant unlocked the door, Zeke tried to tackle him through it so he could fucking escape.

She’d been so angry in HYDRA but with SHIELD she’d been able to let go of a lot of things.  She smiled at her father and hugged him tightly.  “I’m glad to see you Daddy.”
