Ruggie Bucchi from Twisted Wonderland for @creatingblackcharacters' Melanin Beam Challenge.

I have never played Twister Wonderland and don't really know much about it other than being a Disney-villain-themed mobile game. But considering Ruggie is supposed to be inspired by the Lion King, him being White rather than Black feels lika a rather odd choice to me, so this is how I would tweak his design. (I actually took a peek at other the other characters and honestly everyone that had a darker skin tone than PaleTM were greyish 😣)

I let his hair be closer in hue to the dark part of the lion's mane, and gave him slightly longer hair with more texture but still lose. I also decided to give him brown eyes with a hint of gold.

Genuine question, what’s your opinion on Ruggie x Jamil ?

I really enjoy your point of view regarding ships, and RugJami happens to be a rare pair I talk to my wall about :D

Personally, the main appeal came from whatever they had going on in Glomas. To me, they almost seem to trust each other, and taking into account who they are as characters, that’s a pretty big thing. But for reference, they interact mainly in Glorious Masquerade (event), Book 8, Ruggie’s ceremonial robe vignette, Fairy Gala (event), and Jamil’s La Bonbonnière vignette.

Although I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite pair for either of them, I definitely think it’s cute and like it a bit! In general I love a lot of second year x second year ships and would love to see all of the sophomores interact with each other more.

When I think of the two of them, I immediately think of them in Glomas lmao, I loved their little scheme and how they took pride in just how underhanded it was. I did find it funny how they were like “Oh I could only do this with you, the others would think it’s too conceited lolll they’re too good,” when I know at least Azul would also be completely fine with that kind of plot and I could maybe see even Idia or Malleus being talked into it. But noooo, they can only trust each other to do something so sinister~ (They’re both so silly, I love it)

They’re both from very similar walks in life, being mistreated and underestimated simply for being of a lower class, and they could definitely bond over almost dying/being on the verge of death during their childhood due to food related issues (Ruggie struggling to get his hands on any kind of nutrition and Jamil being straight up poisoned, probably more than once). Though while Jamil has only recently started taking what life has given him and thrown it back in life’s face, Ruggie’s been doing that for a while now. If life plays dirty, you gotta play dirty back. Ruggie’s been knowing that, and Jamil’s starting to practice that kind of thinking too (like that scene in Book 7.5 when Jamil pretends to want Kalim’s bracelet just stop acting in an overly professional manner felt like such a Ruggie move, only difference is Ruggie would probably actually take the bracelet lol). It’d be interesting to see Jamil kind of learn from Ruggie how to use his position in life like that more (kind of like what Leona was telling Jamil in Book 6. Leona’s totally a Jamirugi shipper trust!!)

They are on the exact same level as each other. Now power dynamics, not status, nothing to separate one from the other. That’s where their trust comes from, and I’d love to see more of it. Thank you Book 8 for putting them together for the labyrinth thing, I need them to work together more 🙏🙏🙏

Although them being together would make me slightly concerned for Leona and Kalim. They will not be safe from the scheming.

This was originally gonna be a much shorter response, but I kept thinking about things I loved about them. Guess I like this ship even more than I thought XD

Oh also they both can cook. Ruggie says his cooking isn’t the best, but like Mr. Leona “Refined Pallet” Gonna Give You a 1 in Culinary Crucible No Matter What Kingscholar eats whatever Ruggie cooks so it can’t be THAT bad. Even if it is, Jamil can teach him to cook better and then they get a cute cooking date where they do not make it solely for their housewardens but rather for each other.

⤷　 & I'm also big into oshikatsu and yumeship stuff!! I yumeship with Ruggie bucchi... but im also soulbonded to him! But don't think that i see my soulbond as fiction!! My Ruggie is wayyy different than canon.. I just happen to also like yumeshipping with canon him- my soulbond is also one I consider spiritual! I believe in the multiverse, so yes. I believe that my ruggie is real and does exist in another universe! I also believe in reality shifting!!! I haven't successfully shifted though.. though I only recently started believing in it! Im usually close minded when it comes to that... but Ruggie has definitely helped me out with that!
