Okay well now I need to know more about Toryn so I’m giving you the yap card I wanna know all about him so I can maybe draw him… or at least know about him more to get Cora’s view on him❤️❤️

General:
For starters Toryn was based off a prompt. “A character related to a canon character goes missing as a baby/young kid only to reappear at NRC.” (Most of my ocs are based off this prompt.) And he’s the older brother to Jade and Floyd.
He’s 6’6 in human form and 9’9 in mer form. He looks extremely lanky, but he’s like pure muscle and is insanely strong.
Toryn is very sweet and caring, often having a silent eye out for those he cares about. He great with comforting people and if they need a distraction he doesn’t mind being a bit silly either. He’s very big on family and will defend anyone he views as family with his life (don’t say mean things or he will be angry). He does have a “leech side” that shows itself to those he’s very close too.
Though, he’s also very passive and has an extremely hard time saying no, to the point he’s often taken advantage of. Though he’s smart enough to know what’s going on, he just believes he deserves it. His arc is learning to stand up for himself. He also has issues with dissociation.

Lore:
He went missing due to magical shenanigans. He swam off at only a year old and ended up in a magicless world (our world, specifically off the coast of California). He survived on his own watching surfers and growing to admire them, even listening to them talk to help learn language. But when he was 3 he was caught in fishing equipment and ended up beaching himself. He was found and saved by a lady at the beach who happened to be a marine biologist. She took him in, worrying someone else who found him might have bad intentions.
After taking him in, she set him up in large tanks (they continue building them as Toryn grew). He became part of the family, though he saw how much effort they had just to keep him in their house. And while they tried to include him, there was still a literal wall of glass and only some areas for him to surface. And ofc they kept him hidden because they didn’t know what would happen if it came out there was a mer. So he grew to feel guilty, believing he only took and promising to do all he could to give.
Then NRC when he’s 18. Now he suddenly has his family, is in his world (even if he doesn’t remember it, and has to spend the first two books learning to walk since he’s never had legs before.

Relationships:
Vil - His partner. Except Toryn and Vil are too dense to recognize their feelings or that they already act like a couple. Despite being in Octavinelle, Toryn spends half his time in Pomefiore to be with Vil (shipname is Seastars)
Jade, Floyd, and Azul - All three of them are brothers to him. He knows they have issues (especially after book 3). But they’re family.
Rook - Very close friends who talk about art all the time.
Epel - Toryn thinks of him as a little brother. He knows Epel has issues to work on with the gender and cute things tho, so he tries to help.
Idia and Ortho - Shockingly friends and they got Toryn into gaming. Though he has a slight grudge after book 6.
Jamil - Before book 4, neutral. After book four, Toryn has very big grudge.

Facts:
Toryn knows Spanish and uses it when he doesn’t want people to know what he’s saying (some people close to him eventually pick up some words). He recognizes Rook speaks French and is very confused on how that can happen.
Toryn has insane luck, to the point he baffles people.
Toryn learned to draw in his old world to allow him to draw and bond with his cousin. His family got him waterproof materials so he just kept drawing.
Toryn is very often clumsy. Even after he learns to walk.
He uses a cane that belonged to Floyd, but since it helps stabilize him, he was allowed to keep it.
He is extremely cuddly and a strong cuddler. Let him cuddle you and you’re not getting up for a bit.
He also got his headband because he wanted to match one of his cousins, but he liked it, so he was given his own. (This one is important because the headband is very special to him)
His main aesthetic is surfer/waves, but when I draw him, I also try to make him the middle of both of the tweels. Like having two golden eyes, having outfits that have patterns on both sides, black on the tips of all his hair instead of just one side.
