By this logic, Asha breaks Ironborn law by challenging for the Seastone Chair since she has three uncles and a brother, Arianne breaks Westerosi law by trying to disrupt the line of succession to make Myrcella queen, Alys Karstark breaks the law by escaping her rapist uncle and marrying Sigorn of Thenn so that she can secure her succession and be the Lady of Karhold, and Cersei breaks the law by defying her husband and asserting her sexual and reproductive autonomy. Maybe women breaking patriarchal laws is actually a good thing.
And I’m sure if you asked this commenter what they think of Sansa becoming QITN, they’d probably praise her for it, as if Northern law isn’t the most patriarchal out of all of these laws and there is zero precedent among Northern custom for women becoming independent rulers. What part of First Men, Old God worship supports gender neutral primogeniture ??
The old gods are not actually Northmen religion by origin. It's a religion that belongs to and was developed by those who sing the song of the earth, alternatively known to Westerosi as the children of the forest. The northerners with the "purest" FM blood in the current time are actually those descended from the FM who adopted the religion around after their Pact of the Isle of Faces with the TWSTSOTE that was to end the long war between them. There was no monarchy or feudalism in Westeros before the first humans arrived and thus no such thing that this religion could have influenced or be influenced by. Thus no tenets or principles regarding primogeniture.
As for FM culture, I never heard or read anything regarding gender or sexuality. Considering how they were the ones who had the right of the first night as a true, dealy-do custom, though, I'd guess they did not have women have the same or close to the same power/autonomy as men like the Valyrian women were close to, or what the Rhoynar had.
