As all of you should have been informed around a month ago, town will be reopening to the public this upcoming Friday. However, it has come to our attention that we have collected enough data for our research. Therefore, the council will no longer supervise activity in town. It's not mandatory to go back to town anymore.
OOC Note:
After thoroughly discussing this, the mod team has come to the conclusion that this RP had its run. While for all purposes this RP will be closed, you are still allowed to keep RPing here. We won't be accepting any apps or hosting any kind of events - plain and simply, this group will not have a mod team anymore. But if you have anything you wish to do with your characters, please, feel free to do so. If you have any questions and concerns, contact a mod.
That being said, we do have another RP in the works and we'd love to see all of you there. We're not sure when it will be released yet since it can take some time for it to be set up, but we'll update the main once we have information on it.
You might want to scavenge through your wrecked houses because we plan on getting everybody out of town and home by tomorrow night. People who will still need medical care will be airlifted to a hospital closer to their hometown so relatives can be with them. When it comes to everybody else, you should be using the computers in the hospital to be booking flights or bus tickets to get out of here. We're not completely sure when you'll be able to come back, we just know that we're determined to reconstruct the town and go back to how we used to be.
For now until tomorrow, you should be staying at the hospital. There's beds available for you who aren't injured as well. Also, not that I'm sure this really matters to all of you, but there's a 50% discount on everything in the EC store. Might as well just get everything we can out of there, and it is advised you take this deal since it's not super likely we'll do it again.
OOC Note:
From now and until the 8th of March, it'll be both a break for you IC and OOC. Activity is going to become lenient once again, but once the characters are back in town, we'll be enforcing the activity rules once again. The characters will all be home by 8PM EST tomorrow, so please plan for that. You can do whatever you want with your character over the break. Major storylines should still be told to the mods before doing, but feel free to do whatever you'd like. If you need to put your character in quarantine now, we advise you to not do that. Instead, talk to us and we'll set something else up that would make more sense.
Both the dash and Chatzy are open for your characters to interact. It's preferred to use the Chatzy, but the dash is as well open for talking. Just make sure that you keep in mind that they'd be using computers at the hospital since their's are most likely trashed. And the Chatzy is obviously still set up at the hospital.
The break for the characters will be three months, and obviously, the break for us will not be as long. The timejump will occur Saturday into Sunday, meaning once midnight EST hits Saturday (or, well, Sunday), for your character it will no longer be March 3rd. It'll be June 3rd.
If anything doesn't make sense, or you just have questions - please message the main or contact a mod on AIM.
The Chatzy is now open for everyone to go to the hospital - so, please, if you have your character show up, make sure all earthquake paras are posted/finished and that your character is NOT knocked out, in surgery or dead.

For all purposes, the earthquake is starting NOW. Post all of your solo, open or aim paras, but other than that, please stop any kind of posting on the dash.
Remember to send in your character's injuries for the earthquake by preferably tonight, but at latest tomorrow afternoon. Also, remember that your AIM/Chatzy paras, self paras, or open paras must be ready by 8pm tomorrow so we can all post them at the same time.
This upcoming Sunday, the 24th, at around eight o’clock at night - the town will be experiencing an earthquake. It’d be something along the lines of a category 6.5, if that helps any of you grasp the severity of it. There will be excessive damage to the town, to the point where people go back home for a three month break while the town reconstructs. As well as to the point that there will be injuries. We encourage them. We want traumatic things to happen because that’s why we’re doing this sort of storyline. But, of course, we have some guidelines we want you to follow when it comes to injuries.
First come, first serve: We don’t want ten people with broken necks. And nobody wants to hear that nine other people came up with the same injury that they did. Which is why we’re limiting the number of repeated injuries to two people. That way it’s still a pretty unique storyline as long as each one is done differently.
Only one person from a ship can be injured: And I don’t mean just canon ships who are together and happy. At the same time that a ship like Cruzin can’t have both Cruz and Robin hurt -- a ship like Lola and Cesar can’t either. It has to be one character or the other. It helps us limit people who get hurt as well as make sure there isn’t an overboard amount of drama. This also applies in love triangles. If Marie gets hurt, Seth and Landon cannot get hurt. But if she doesn’t, both Seth and Landon can.
Only one character of yours can be injured: Also to help limit the number of injuries, we’d wish that only one character of yours may get hurt. If Prancer injures Cruz, she can’t injure Ferris.
Injuries are completely optional: If you don’t want your character to get injured (or injured badly), you don’t have to. This is completely up to you, just note that we won’t be having a storyline akin to this one anytime soon. But if you’d wish to just sit your character out of this, that’s perfectly alright.
For characters who are not getting injured: When I say injury, I mean a bones sticking out of a leg or possible brain damage. That doesn’t include scratches and bruises or even a sprained hand. Your character can be bruised up and battered, just overall fine and not needing much medical attention. Feel free to play around with it and ask questions if you’re not sure if something’s considered a serious injury or not.
Cars, boats, houses, personal items will be affected: Each and every character’s car’s will be damaged to scrap. No exceptions. Nobody’s cars are living through the Earthquake. Same as boats. And the houses will also be ruined, meaning personal belongings. However, you get a say in what gets ruined and what doesn’t when it comes to your character’s belongings. PETS WILL BE SAFE!
Character Deaths: Yes, they are allowed. But we won’t accept more than two deaths - and that’s also first come, first serve.
Keep your injuries secret, and send them to the main: Don’t tell people what you’re doing with your character unless their character is directly involved in the accident. For instance, it’s cool for Iza to tell Dav that she’s hurting Cherry because DJ’s going to be there when it happens. But it is not cool for Iza to tell Dav if she’s hurting Cherry and DJ is not there. Make it secretive and dramatic. Trust me when I say that makes storylines a million times better. However, you still need to send the INJURY to the main. Not what occurs to make the injury happen. If I give Leo brain damage, I just send in - “Leo’s going to have brain damage” - and not include how it happens. Just so we can keep track of the injuries but also be surprised when we see how it happens.
That’s pretty much it with the guidelines. I feel like they’re simple enough to follow and if you have any trouble understanding them, just send a message to the main or IM a mod and we’ll help you out.
Moving on to give you more of a setting -- since the Earthquake is taking place on a Sunday, that means it’s going to be happening around the time of a party. Arriving to the party, getting ready for it, the character making their way there (on foot or by car) - those are ideas you can use for when it happens.
For the people who want to actively participate, an AIM/Chatzy para, self para, or open para should be written.
The AIM/Chatzy para is obviously for more than one person. Example: Stevie and Leo are trying move rubble off of a trapped Cherry, so on and so forth.
A self para can be for somebody who gets severely injured but finds their own way to the hospital (or godmods somebody who’s NOT a playable character - aka an NPC or paramedics to take them there) or doesn’t get severely injured. It’s for the characters who just have whiplash or a sprained ankle. Example: Holden was a little shaken up by the earthquake, but ended up okay, and made his way to the hospital to check on everyone else.
The open para, however, is an idea that somebody could use where somebody has a bone sticking out of their leg and can’t move, yet nobody’s found them yet so they’re just sitting there waiting for help. That enables somebody who wrote a self para (or nothing at all yet) to answer the open para to help the character who made the para to the hospital. However, you can only do it if you made a SELF para or no para at all. And, of course, depending on your character’s injury. This is done is real time, people. Meaning that you cannot be at two places (paras) at once. Example: If Ferris has a messed up spine in his self para, Prancer cannot have him answer Seth’s open para about a tree falling on him to save him. So, just keep that kind of thing in mind.
You don’t need to do a para if you don’t want to. If you can just explain that your character cut their hand but otherwise is fine, you don’t need to write an entire self para about it. However, if you want to seriously injure your character, you MUST write one of the choices that have been given.
So, as I said in the beginning of the post, the Earthquake will begin at eight o’clock. Your self paras, AIM paras and starters to your open paras should be done before that. Just so we can post all of them at the same time. We want everything to be done once the Earthquake begins in real time so we finish it in one day. A post on the main titled “The Earthquake has begun” will be posted, and from there on - everything that you have prepared should follow after. If you can’t be around for a few hours, or even thirty minutes, if it’s an AIM para - try to have the other person post it. But if both of you won’t be around or it’s a self para, schedule the post to be at eight. If you don’t know how to schedule a post, IM a mod or send a message to the main.
After the posts have been made, the Chatzy will be open and will take place at the hospital. Meaning if you’re a character with little injuries or not really injured at all, you should have your character in the waiting room. However, make sure you keep that real timed as well. If you’re answering somebody’s open para - don’t be in the Chatzy until you’re finished with it. And obviously, if your character is injured and in the middle of surgery - you shouldn’t have them hanging out in the waiting room either.
