With all due respect - re: writing credits... it’s not strange. I sincerely don’t think the average person understands how difficult it is to break into the film/tv business as a writer. These new guys may not have a ton of writing credits on IMDb (btw, IMDb is a pretty shitty barometer of someone’s career unless you’re a star... there’s a ton of stuff left off the resumes of average hustlers), but they’ve certainly put their time in in the industry. One of them has written two novels, another has two films in development, and they’re repped at ICM and CAA - as writers (and neither of these agencies would take on someone who was simply a PA). So even though the new blood got their starts as assistants, it’s a bit disingenuous to say that that’s all they’ve done. I get Carter’s desire to hire people that know the series inside and out. From what I gather, it’s on a pretty tight deadline, so I understand not wanting to bring on someone entirely new. But for god’s sake, this is a series that has a ton of fans in the industry, and has certainly had its share of female PAs with similar career aspirations. And that’s where I get a little dumbfounded. I’m also a little worried that maybe word has gotten out to women writer’s that TXF a boys’ club. Who knows. CC could’ve asked around and had no takers. It’s a small industry.
TL;DR I will defend new talent to the death, even if they’re men. But I can still have a zero-tolerance policy for CC & FOX’s BS.
cc @perplexistan, you know I love you.
