Ty’s eyes widened when he saw who he’d just pancaked. “Parker?!” He sat up, pulling Parker up with him, to wrap his arms around them in a tight hug. “You have no idea how horrible it’s been. We were searching and searching for you. I was so scared you were dead.” He leaned back, still holding onto Parker’s shoulders. “I can’t believe I just ran into you like this after all these years.”

“Oh my gosh, are you okay?! Oh, duh, obviously not, but, um! Don’t worry, I know First Aid,” Ty said quickly, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a handkerchief. He wrapped it around her hand tightly to stop the bleeding, tying it off with a knot. “Here, let me help you up.” He took her elbow and helped her stand.

Ty had never been the most coordinated person. He rode the bench most of high school while on the football team because while he was fast, he could never seem to catch the ball.

Being fast helped in snowball fights, though. He dodged and ducked and ran and hid. He couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn, but if he dodged long enough, he figured he’d be the last one standing.

But then his foot hit a patch of ice, and he went slipping and sliding out onto the ice. Arms flailing, he yelled for people to get out of the way as he tripped and scrambled, until he collided with someone and they both fell.

“Shit shit shit, I’m so sorry! Are you okay??”
