At the beginning of the hearing, he was chatting with his attorneys and laughing because a news agency (Deseret News) had submitted their media request a day late, resulting in no still photography yesterday. Erika and her family and supporters were sitting a few rows behind him, and she was weeping apparently. I’m not sure Tyler was even aware of what she was doing, and in any case, is he not allowed to have human reactions to lighthearted things that happen in court? He’s also smiled and laughed in the past when Judge Graf and the other attorneys made jokes. Though I’d have loved it if he went beast mode lmao

I don’t have anything against tcc, it would be dishonest of me to use tcc tags otherwise. I do follow some tcc blogs. I admit I find the irreverent tone that some people take disturbing—genuinely seeming to agree with the extremist beliefs of certain perps, posting images of victims, making fanart of school shooters etc. But I get the fascination, the sympathy for these people who were failed and ostracized by their communities, the need to know more about their psychology, and just the teenage impulse to be into edgy taboo shit. And I don’t think the boundaries between factual analysis and romanticization/identification are all that impermeable, nor can they be.
I understand why tcc isn’t interested in Tyler because he really is a very atypical perp. I guess for him (or someone like Luigi) we have the excuse of his (theoretically) pro-trans/left-wing motive, the impersonal nature of the crime, and the victim being a contemptible bigot who probably indirectly contributed to deaths of his own. He’s also a mentally stable individual with a good family background and no history of violence. That lets us operate under the presumption that his alleged crime was rational and principled, even though it might not have been. Not to mention the investigation is in its early stages and his guilt or lack thereof is still in question. I won’t argue for his moral superiority because that’s beside the point, but I think that’s why you won’t see tcc discuss him.

I might not be that well versed when it comes to true crime, but i poke around from time to time, and when I've been poking around I’ve been noticing that there’s discourse about this man's looks, because the girls got spoiled back in December of 2024 when authorities announced they arrested Luigi Mangione. Hey, thanks for the ask and sorry it's taken so long for me to get back to you! I've wanted to make a post on this for a while but it never quite felt like the right time. I think it's safe to say that yes, they were dating, but you'll have to put your faith in a couple of questionable sources. I'm going to put together all the unofficial evidence that we have below; forgive me if you already know some of this, I'm just compiling everything so it's easier for me in the future. 🩷
1) The irrefutable: Candace Owens published two photos from Lance's private instagram.
In the first post, Lance's caption says: "My bf is the best, luv u @ craftin247." Tyler is wearing the same Castle Crashers Bitey Bat hat that Lance is wearing in these photos:
Tyler is sitting against a staircase which matches the one seen in the Zillow listing of their apartment (note that the listing was made before either of them moved in). The song used in the second post is also in one of Lance's Spotify playlists.
I can't be sure who shared these with Candace, but I have a feeling it might be Lance's cousin, who follows Candace and TPUSA, reposted a TikTok of Candace talking about Lance, and also follows the account these posts were taken from (@ lanc_spam).

2) Independent journalist Ken Klippenstein interviewed Tyler's friends, who confirmed that Tyler and Lance were in a relationship.
3) The Turkey Tom video that is largely a disgusting, exploitative exposé of Lance's mental illness with some details about their relationship on the side. I won't go into all of that, but you can see some of my posts on it here and here, and feel free to DM if you want more clarification. The video is def exaggerated in some aspects, but sadly, I think it's mostly truthful.
What the video asserted is that Tyler and Lance started talking online in 2020 and dating in 2024, shortly after Tyler moved in. Lance may have suffered from schizoaffective disorder or a similar condition that was exacerbated by drug use, and Tyler may have been her main caretaker, calming her down during episodes and bringing her to the psychiatrist. Obviously that dynamic wouldn’t have been healthy, but the video provides no proof that Lance was manipulative or controlling of Tyler, or that she “groomed” him into murdering Kirk as right-wing media has claimed.
There are only two Discord messages provided by the leaker that directly mention their relationship.
4) A few of Lance's relatives and family friends have been interviewed by conservative media of varying degrees of legitimacy. Three interviews state that Tyler and Lance were dating, and two do not dispute their relationship.

[Lance's family] told us that Tyler and him had been living together for at least a year, that they had not met Tyler despite the fact that Lance had wanted to foster that meeting, that they, the two of them, this couple, Tyler and Lance, were living in that townhome that is owned by Lance's family and that Tyler was paying rent to Lance and Lance then of course was forwarding that payment to them.

Daily Mail: This is an interview with Lance's friends' mom, highly recommend you read it if you haven't. Her sons are close friends with both Tyler and Lance (yes, they do exist, I’ve checked). Webfishing is one of Lance's favorite games and she’s made many posts about it online, including a Youtube video of her playing a song in a modded version of the game (I won't be posting it here as it's one of her only profiles that haven’t been swarmed by trolls.)
Lance has been a big fan of Tally Hall since at least 2022. Tyler's Spotify has just two public playlists and they're both Tally Hall-related. He follows six artists, and four are related to the band. It's giving "partner who isn't super into music, got introduced to her favorite band, and now it's the only thing he'll listen to" lol

7) Not to end this on a negative note, but a neighbor has described in an interview with the Sun how he saw Tyler and Lance holding hands and kissing while out for a "doctor's appointment." He's been interviewed by other outlets talking shit about Tyler (apparently, he, a Mormon, asked Tyler if he'd like to go to church, and Tyler told him to fuck off??). He seems like a moron and the reporters talking to him are exceedingly stupid so it's up to you whether you believe this or not.
That's all for now. I think there's sufficient evidence that they were in a relationship, though we still know frustratingly little about the two of them together. It's funny how we have so much more info on Lance and her online presence, while we have almost nothing for Tyler. I hope I was able to convince you! You’re right, I’m glad we’ve established he isn’t any flavor of right-wing/groyper here, but I don’t think he’s a leftist. Based on what I’ve seen and just my gut feeling I’d say he’s socially progressive but mostly apolitical, more likely to identify with lib/dem politics. I would hesitate to call him a centrist either because I usually associate that term with anti-wokeism. Gonna write up a more comprehensive post later, just laying out some sources for you now.

We also have a ton of photos of him and his family wearing masks on his mom’s Facebook in a variety of settings from 2020-21. We do know that his parents are registered Republicans and that his dad allegedly celebrated Trump’s win last year on Instagram, while his mom never seemed to have posted anything political on her FB. That suggests to me that his parents aren’t as extremist as some people have claimed. (As a side note: many people pointed out the strangeness of him telling Lance in that convo that “since trump got into office [my dad] has been pretty diehard maga.” Maybe his dad became more conservative in the past year and that shift warranted an explanation from him? Idk.)

Friends in the Klippenstein interview didn’t say much about his political leanings, except that he’s bi, cares about LGBTQ rights, but is also pro second amendment (I wouldn't say support for gun ownership is necessarily right-wing.) He had only two messages mentioning Biden or Trump in their discord server and both were factual in nature. (Also bear in mind that the Turkey Tom leaker said he was sharing messages from three different servers. The messages in the Klip interview and Tyler’s “confession” were sent in the same server, which consisted mostly of old middle and high school classmates, some of whom hadn’t seen him in years. It makes sense that he didn't talk about politics a lot there)

Looking at this more anecdotally, I think his interests in games and music reads as very much non-maga coded to me, lol. We’ve established that he’s a huge Tally Hall fan. That’s a pretty left-leaning, chronically online, neurodivergent, female-orientated fandom. Webfishing has a primarily LGBTQ player base and was caught up in a stupid gamer tm controversy because the in-game label for “straight” costs $9999 compared to $75 for other orientations. Helldivers is explicitly satirical and you play as an infinitely replaceable footsoldier indoctrinated to kill swarms of insect enemies to spread "managed democracy." Sure, plenty of people choose not to engage with the politics of the games they play, but most of the Helldivers fandom is in on the joke and I doubt a smart person like him wouldn't get it.
I don’t want to speculate too much, but based on everything I’ve seen and read, some of which I can’t post here about, he strikes me as a kind person and a softie. I mentioned in a previous post that it's interesting how he felt so strongly about aggressive PvP players in Sea of Thieves to the point where he started two threads complaining about them and suggesting that the game should be optimized for beginners/PvE players. It seems that he’s motivated by an intrinsic moral goodness and a drive to stand up for people more than anything explicitly political. It saddens me that he might actually have been offended by some stupid “Charlie Kirk owning the libs/transgenders” compilation and took his hateful bs to heart.
I’m not going to debunk the groyper allegations here because I’ve already written enough and I think anyone reading this blog will have intuited that he clearly isn’t one, but I will make a follow-up post.
