2. While kissing
Rarely did Zach have this type of relationship with anyone. He didn’t necessarily wander into the friends with benefits category, at leastnot really. Maybe the other party thought it was that. But there were girls hewas hooking up with, and then his friends. Generally two different categories, but Tinsley had easily fit into both. He’d stopped showing up at her place forjust sex long ago. While it was obvious in the way he talked to her and the waytheir bodies interacted that he craved so much of her most of the time, hefound himself craving the conversation too. And craving this. This intimacywithout anything innately sexual. Their bodies had tangled together the secondthey laid down, but it hadn’t yet progressed anywhere further than the gentletouches, his hand sliding up and down her thigh, her hand finding his cheek astheir lips brushed together.
He didn’t kiss to kiss. He kissed as a stepping stone tofuck. But he was kissing Tinsley to kiss. Kissing her as a way just to be withher, be around her, to show her without words that he liked her. That hethought she was beautiful, that he thought she was smart and funny andinteresting, and that he liked himself better in her presence. The way his lipsmet hers was to show her that no one had ever understood him the way she had. That he’d never met anyone like her and was sure he never would. Of course allof this would be lost on the girl. How can a tongue gliding on your lower lipreally convey all of that? The thought crossed his mind that if she understoodhim so well that maybe she understood even that. But he brushed past that as hecame up for air, a hand coming up to brush a stray brown hair out of her face.He chewed on his lower lip, eyes searching hers, seemingly looking for theanswer on whether or not he should say what he was feeling or not. The answerdidn’t come, but somehow the words did. “I—I think I love you.” With thosewords and that realization he knew he’d forever changed their dynamic, maybe itwould end anything they had. Ruin their friendship, perhaps just the benefitsside of it. He didn’t know, had no clue what the ramifications of his words wouldbe. But for as hard as his heart seemed to most, she’d been right. He was soft.He was quick to love and he craved it like a fiend.
10. While scared
The haunted house had turned out so successful that Tylerwasn’t shy about his intentions when he picked out the scary movie for them towatch. It was the first time she’d been in his house and he had it to himselffor the entirety of the weekend. A weekend where he didn’t intend to leave andhoped like hell the girl in his arms didn’t either. His eyes scanned down tothe dark haired beauty, the sight somehow more beautiful up close with her bodysunken into his. She was the best distraction he could imagine, but he knewwell enough she’d scold him for not paying attention if his eyes weren’tcareful to peel back onto the screen. And so they did; only taking a fewminutes for things to pick up in the film. “Fuck!” He shouted as somethingpopped out; he could feel Lorena’s fingers clinging to the fabric of his shirt.A smile formed after the spook, mocking only himself, his arm wrapped a touchtighter around the girl.
It was an hour or so later that they were tangled in bed, conversation turned to kissing, turned to a more quiet conversation, turned togentle touches. But that was when they heard the knocking. A seemingly distinctknock on his wall, but when he investigated nothing was there. It was cleartheir senses were heightened due to the movie they’d watch, much more easilyscared than they’d normally be, but even that realization didn’t help. Again,he slunk back into bed, the girl clinging to him and he held her again. “There’snothing there, we’re good,” he whispered, but again the knocking returned andso he forced a small laugh after he heard her whimper. “Shh, we’re okay, we’reokay,” he cooed. “I love you, I’ll keep ya safe.”
