My three-year-old, Giavanni, is the very active. Can I be honest? She literally wears us out! She stays on 10 from the time she wakes up, until it’s time to go to bed. Our day is filled with, “Giavanni, stop! Giavanni, sit down! Giavanni, use your inside voice when you’re talking or singing! Giavanni, please don’t jump off of the couch! Giavanni, Giavanni Giavanni!” No matter how much we speak to her, it’s like she’s in her own world and doing her own thing. Sometimes it seems as if nothing gets her attention. The only time she is really quiet, is when she is sleeping. She just won’t be still!
BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD
The irony of the above situation is my child may look exactly like my husband, but she acts just like me! I’m constantly on ten in my life. Sometimes, I'm just busy for no reason. My husband is constantly telling me to rest, but I never listen! I never take the time to just breathe, because I’m always involved in something. I am literally on the go from the time I wake up, until it’s time for me to go to sleep. My life is consumed with so much; working, being a parent, ministering to the people of God, projects, wife duties, business duties, and the list goes on and on. By the time I get home, I literally fall on the couch, because I don’t have the energy to do anything else. My favorite pastime is getting in the bed; because I know I don’t have to do anything but sleep. But, the crazy thing about that is, I can’t sleep. It's like God is being funny, and saying, "Hey, this is the only time I get to spend with you, so let me say what I was trying to say to you ALL DAY LONG!" He is using the quiet time to speak to me, and let me know, HE IS STILL GOD! During this time when I'm still, God gives me all of my ideas for my business, and I have to get up and write them down immediately or I will forget what He said. It’s like He’s telling me, “I can’t use you during the time you are up, because your focus is on completing other tasks and not on Me!
BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD
I came to the realization that I can’t do everything on my own, and I really and truly needed to be still and allow God to be God. I was tired after working all day, and not getting enough time to just sit still. The reason I was so tired is because I was trying to complete all of my tasks on my own without the help of God. I was running through my day trying to take care of everything, when God was tapping me on the shoulder saying, “Ty, sit down! Ty, you don’t have to be loud in this situation. Ty, I’ll take that heavy load! Ty, don’t worry about that. Ty, Ty, Ty, just be STILL!” Through my obedience of being still, I learned the ministry of NO! Let's be honest, you can't do everything, and be everything to everybody! My job is to let God be God, and for me to be still.
Recently, I mastered the art of scheduling so I won’t be so consumed. I have my quiet time with God in the morning, which is very important, because it sets the tone of my day! I also work out every day, which gives me a great start! I've learned to give 100%, and be the best I can be, and allow God to do the rest! I looked more toward God for help, as I became still in my life. The benefit of being you being still, is your ability to allow God to move for you, instead of you moving by yourself.
Thank you today for being the head of our lives. We know we can’t do anything without You. It’s not our job to be superheros, because You became our Hero when you died on the cross. You took on our heavy load, so we would not have to worry about a thing. Help us understand the importance of being still and knowing You are God. It will make such a difference in our lives. Thanking You in advance. Amen
