Dancing with Daisies. Van/Harmony.
"He likes her." Tylore's eyes were deadset on Van who looked a little too happy with the new girl.
"I thought he might." Liza crossed her arms, an arched brow.
"Too bad she's head over heels for Jesse."
"Too bad Jesse's head over heels for Blaine."
"Fuck this shit. Van deserves someone happy... someone who can finally keep up with his dancing. I feel like dying after every number." The two dangers tapped some kind of beat together.
"She's going to be the death of him."
"He'll tame the beast, I'm sure. Ready to play matchmaker?"
"Could be fun before Regionals hits."
---------------------------------------------
I don't wanna change keys no more!
I don't wanna strip tease no more,
I don't wanna say 'cheese' no more!
I don't care if you scoff...
I don't wanna be cheered no more,
I don't wanna show... offff!!
It was perpetually mind-blowing how one could tap that quickly, and Van's eyes were trained on the girl singing lead vocals, his feet still perfect- but it was quite obvious where his attention lay.
"Poor dear, look...I'm talking to him. You have her. Break!" It was like a football huddle. Tylore and Liza walked in different directions just as the two best dancers separated. Liza cornered the girl near the restroom.
"Harmony Francesca Foster, future star in the making. Yes?"
"...wait, Foster?" Liza paused, "You don't mean..."
"Sutton and Hunter are my aunt and uncle, yes." The girl's eyes became an even brighter blue, "I worship them. Family idols. As you can see, talent runs in the family. You should see my sister, she's an architect- helps with Broadway sets all the time." Oh, she was proud.
'Okay, I'd better get down to interrogation or this one won't stop.' Liza thought to herself, hooking her arm with the girl, "How are you liking Vocal Adrenaline so far?"
"It's great. I'm glad that I can finally be surrounded by people who have performance pumping in their bloodstream like me."
"One of the boys have something more than just bloodstream pumping in their veins... for you. Everyone can see it from the top of his head, to the toes of his big feet."
"Who? Since Jesse's obviously a little... confused on what he likes at the moment, I'm sure I'd give someone from Vocal Adrenaline the privilege of a date."
Woah, desperate, much? "See, I have this friend..."
---------------------------------------------
"She is basically squeezing your balls in her pretty little hands, then stomping on- oh, pardon me, tip tapping on them as she side-steps your drool, Van."
"... I don't wanna cause any more drama, okay? Please just stop the torture and let me admire from afar. It's pretty obvious that she has eyes for Jesse."
"Shut up!" Tylore took his face in her hands, pulling him down to her eye level, "Shut the hell up."
"-Get. Her. If you see something you like, get it." Tylore sounded like a cross between army sargeant and Dr. Phil.
"Stop talking about her like she's a piece of meat. I can't just... do that."
"I know you're a sweet and romantic soul and all that- you like to frollic in the flowers, live simply, playing in cardboard boxes- I get it." She let her hands fall to her sides and her voice became less harsh, "You look so happy."
"Yeah? Because... I like dancing." He redid his ponytail, "...dancing with her."
There it was, the truth. "Take her out."
"Did you not hear about Jess-"
"-She likes you!" Tylore blurted, and her hands immediately came up to cover her mouth, a lie masked as an embarrassing confession.
---------------------------------------------
"I told him to take her to Olive Garden."
"...Where the hell are they?"
Tylore and Liza tried to look around from their booth, fully intending to spy on the little lovebirds.
---------------------------------------------
"I'm sorry, I don't have money to..."
"It's fine. I like taking walks. I like parks. But it's been such a long time since." Harmony's hands were behind her back, baby blue patterned sundress with matching beret atop her head looked more lavender under the setting sun.
"A long time?" Van chuckled, "It's as easy as opening your door and just... going outside?"
"The thing is... I'm usually always inside. Well, not usually. All. The. Time. Even as the gerber baby, and as a child model- I never had the time to play. It was always agents and headshots, apple juice commercials and make-up chair."
"Yeah... dude." She let out a giggle and suddenly a firefly appeared in front of her. Van half expected her to jump back- but instead she lifted a finger for the insect to rest upon, "Me and Peace used to collect these all the time."
"My older sister. I have a little brother named Justice. He's in middle school. Artist extrordinaire- no, I'm lying. His eyes are always glued to the X-Box."
Van didn't play video games, "Harmony, Justice, and Peace. Those are really cool names."
"Oh hush...my parents were obsessed with names that mean something. They couldn't name me something like 'Jessica'. They're really anti-war, easy going people. Not as well show-ready dressed as I, as they're kind of-" She suddenly stopped, looking intently at the firefly, intending to not drop the name.
"Yes." She said, "They run a local grocery store on the outskirts of Akron. Some organic foods here and there. It's great and healthy." The firefly flew near a patch of wild daisies, "Those are my favorite kinds of flowers. People think they're roses all the time because of my lipstick. But, no. I like daisies."
'I like you', Van thought to himself, picking the flower and carefully tucking it behind her ear.
