Fun fact - unlike the others who do it quite a few times, the only time Rick calls Vyvyan “Vyv”, is in the episode Nasty when dealing with the vampire. (“Bags not Vyv” is the line I’m sure).

What do you reckon the boys home lives are like, and if they have any siblings?
In the show we see:
- Vyvyan’s mum in Sick, and Boring (they both don’t know who his dad is)
- Neil’s parents in Sick
- and we hear about Rick’s parents in summer holiday (albeit they’ve passed away but still) and that Rick is an only child (I forgot what episode but it’s the “why don’t you like me?” Scene)
The only one we don’t hear anything about is Mike
Vyv: I reckon he had a shit home life as implied by the show itself. I mean Mrs. Basterd is a nasty woman so it’s safe to say she was nasty to him when he was a child. He probably does have half-siblings (same mum, different dads) but I think they’re all in different places, probably bc of foster care, running away from home or got kicked out
Neil: The show suggests that Neil is from an upper-class, probably conservative family. My headcanon is that Neil is intersex and he was assigned female at birth and raised female until he hit puberty and was reassigned male. Neil’s parents are ashamed of the mix-up and they try to pretend that it never happened. This also means that they try and distance themselves from Neil as much as possible; they sent him away to boarding school for the remainder of his teenage years and it still seems like they don’t talk to him much or send him allowance or anything. It also doesn’t help that Neil clearly has mental health issues (and I also hc that he’s autistic), and his parents don’t believe in mental health and think it’s a personal failure. Overall, they’re messing with him emotionally.
According to Some Of The Corpses Are Amusing (link), Neil has a brother who is only mentioned in Neil’s Book of the Dead and maybe also in Neil’s Heavy Concept Album. His name is Geoff and he’s like a polar opposite to Neil - collects guns, drinks a lot and is violent. I haven’t read the book yet but I’d imagine Geoff is older than Neil. If he and the unnamed brother mentioned in the song ‘Computer Alarm’ are the same person, he seems to keep in contact with him sometimes, since he gave Neil an alarm clock for Christmas.
Rick: I do agree that Rick is an only child. In Bachelor Boys, it’s implied that Rick’s dad is a factory owner who made Rick take a job at his factory during the summer holidays for work experience, and is possibly pushing him to pursue industrial management after he leaves college. I don’t know what Rick’s mum does but I like to think she’s an actress, which also ties into my hc that Rick and Richie from Filthy Rich & Catflap are maternal cousins. I also think Richie from Bottom is a distant relative on Rick’s mum’s side of the family.
Anyway, I feel like Rick’s relationship with his parents isn’t perfect because bro is seriously messed up. I headcanon he’s autistic and also has NPD and HPD. Though there isn’t much research into what causes the latter two, some research suggests that parenting may be an environmental factor. In the show, it’s implied that Rick has daddy issues - he calls him an ‘old square’ who votes Tory and they frequently get into arguments about politics. Meanwhile, Rick has nothing but nice things to say about his Mum, who makes yummy shepherd’s pies and gets very excited when he comes home. I personally think that Rick’s dad was strict and had more of an authoritarian style of parenting whereas his mum was more permissive and spoiled him a lot but gave very little discipline. Either way, not the ideal parenting styles. I imagine his dad was also the toxic masculine type who wants Rick to man up and discourages anything feminine (theatre was on thin ice - yes I headcanon Rick as a theatre kid). So yeah, Rick is a mummy’s boy with daddy issues
Mike: We don’t know anything about Mike and I think that adds to the mystery. I headcanon that he’s Greek and possibly an immigrant or from an immigrant family, but that’s all I have
the younglings are actually so adorable to me, especially that photo shoot where rick is in that tank top and mike is in his pajamas.... they're just so cute it actually gets me so mad, i want to punch a wall at how cute they are... i wish i could hold them close and keep them warm with my body heat.... i wish i could feed them nice warm soup..... i get cuteness aggression at these guys.....
