Blue Note Covers: Are These Your Type?
All Mosaic fans (and most LP fans of any kind) take it as gospel that Blue Note Records have the best designed album covers in history. Aside from the source materials' brilliance, a lot of those feelings come from Reid Miles' innovative use of typography. I think of myself as a bit of a typeface geek (add that to my general geekiness), but once I read this London Jazz Collector piece on Blue Note covers (before and after Liberty) I realized what a rank amateur I am. How about you?

Two Types: The Faces of Britain
BBC 4, Monday 31st July at 9pm
Exciting news to report: LPW will appear in a BBC 4 documentary on air this Monday 31st July at 9pm. Two Types: The Faces of Britain profiles the Johnston and Gill Sans typefaces. Their story is told by type expert Mark Ovenden who visited LPW in February to give an evening talk. Part of the documentary was filmed here at LPW.
