A terrible reminder of the frailty of life: champion Australian mare Typhoon Tracy has died
The 7-year-old mare died while giving birth to her first foal, a colt sired by Street Cry
Trained by Peter Moody and ridden by Luke Nolan (the same team behind super-mare Black Caviar), Typhoon Tracy won six Group 1 races in her career, including both the Queen of the Turf Stakes and Myer Classics before being named Australian Horse of the Year in 2010
Her colt showed no ill effects and will probably be raised by a nurse mare
