Sinterklaas continued.
Yvonne gave me a place-mat for Dutch Christmas. I don't know if i should find this Insulting, or funny... Like does it mean I'm a messy eater? Or is really because as she says,"you set the table every night"

HAPPY SINTERKLAAS Y'ALL! It's basically Christmas but with more racism! Above you'll find zwarte Piet (black peter) who is sinterklaas' helper (read as slave). If you've been good, you get presents but if you've been bad sinterklaas' little helper will snatch ya up in a bag and take you away to unspeakable horrors (he really just kidnaps you, the unspeakable horrors part was just for effect). Anyways all these Dutchies wear black face and prance around spreading cheer while basically making every person of color hate their life for the two weeks these characters are in town. I'm surprised they don't think dressing up as black people is wrong, because apparently the Dutch can't be racist. The simple fact is...it's totally racist. They are perpetrating a caricature of black people used to justify racism. Big red lips, nappy curly Afro wigs and pearl white eyes. Plus the goofy silly stupid nature of the helpers only adds to this oppressive image. Hell all the Dutch need is watermelon and they are set. Best holiday ever! Am I right?
