Prompt #12: Accolade
The quill moved across the parchment with soft little scratches as she wrote. Her eyes were on the parchment, fingers carefully articulating elegant Eorzean script across the lines. He stood nearby, leaning against the door jamb to watch her work with an amused look on his face. She hadn’t seemed to notice he was there as she worked away. He tiptoed behind her, waiting until she was dipping the quill in ink before snatching the paper from in front of her, “Oooh, what’re you writing, Ty~?” She gasped, but that was the only sound she made. The quill was dropped, forgotten, and a fist was slammed down against the table in frustration. A hand was offered out toward him expectantly. “What? I wanna see what you’re working on so intently,” he teased, holding it up out of her reach when she jumped up out of her seat to try to steal it back. “Looks like you’re writing some kinda award. Interesting!” He cleared his throat and began to read, “Humbly, to one Miss Abrie—” He cut off as he was elbowed in the gut, coughing and curling downward in instinct. She snatched the parchment from him, backing away with her face a beet red. “C’mon Tyra, I’m just teasing,” he shook his head, rubbing at his stomach. She flipped him the middle finger, turning to begin carefully smoothing the parchment across the table again. “So is that for ~her~ then? What’s the occasion?” Tyra turned red again and her green eyes turned to glare at him. One hand on a hip, she pointed at the door. “Alright, alright, I get it. Have fun writing your awaaaard~” he waved to her as he turned to leave with a cheeky grin. Still red in the face, she sat back down, gently smoothing out a crease in the parchment. It had to be perfect...
