Stuff I Finished in 2025: this thing! Still a paint job I'm very pleased with, still probably the only Tyranid I'll ever paint.

My Lash Prime! Fun little guy, the base didn't end up exactly as I wanted but I am happy with the scheme overall. I'm still working on how I want the bases to be aside from trying to get a digestive pool area feel to it from where the Nids first slammed into the planet. I can't remember if I decided on a Hive Fleet name, don't think I did but I'm working on it! I'll be back soon with more things.

Sometimes I wonder if the players of some factions live in alternative realities where 40k is a completly different game. Over on reddit they are whining that the new Tyranid Prime model is a WHOLE WHOPPING 85 points.

Like... that's nothing? For what you are getting this is an absolute steal? And the one thing this really, really, REALLY wants to lead which is Hormagaunts, is dirt cheap. You get 20 Gaunts for 130 points and then give this 10-move blender advance&charge, while the little guys themselves get a) Synapse, b) a Surge move, and c) Sustained Hits 1.

This is a 215 point package of "threatens to delete everything it will make contact with that is not a vehicle and is absurdy fast" and somehow that is not cheap enough for this level of power?

Do these people even play the game?

Because given by the amount of absolute bullshit I tend to see in the comments on strategy and balance I am not sure if we are talking about the same game system half of the time...

There's something about painting these little figures that I find really relaxing. Whatever's happened, however stressed or nervous or down I am, painting models always helps to calm me down and cheer me up. Along with working out, it's one of those things I try to make sure I find the time for every day.

I know that the carnifex is the traditional distraction organism of the 40k universe, but I decided to distract myself with this beastie instead. I only spent a couple of afternoons painting him (perhaps you can tell!), which I'm pretty pleased with considering how complex this could've been. For some reason you can get these guys really cheap on second-hand sites - maybe they're rubbish in the game! Looks cool though.

it's been a slog for 7 weeks, but i'm happy with the progress! only 4 models left for layers in the last week, and then i dig into detailing!!

I'll also need to grab some varnish at some point here, because i do not want to deal with the paint rubbing off from handling...
