He didn't quite know what he had expected, but the green planet hadn't been it. He'd always associated Thanos with darkness, and this planet was bright and alive. When the Milano touched ground he remained seated for a while and just breathed as he gathered his nerves. No one had shown up to make him show himself, making him wonder if he had reached the correct destination. He cautiously stepped out. A gentle wind breezed through his hair, the scent of grass and flowers hit his nose. It felt so wrong. The Sanctuary had been a dead rock, and the ship named after it had had a similar atmosphere. "So you decided to join us," he heard a deep voice speak and looked up towards the large estate ahead. Thanos walked closer to him, dressed in a casual outfit but still wearing the Gauntlet. Loki swallowed. "I came for my son." "And does that mean you accept my terms?" Loki took a long moment to answer while Thanos kept coming closer. He was standing right in front of Loki by the time he nodded. "I accept." Thanos grinned widely, "I'm very pleased. And it means you won't be needing that anymore." He reached up with his left hand and snapped his fingers, making the Milano disappear from existence. Loki tried not to show how it unnerved him to be trapped on this planet. "It's a nice place you've picked out," he said. "A bit different from before. Less doomful." "I could hardly raise our child on the Sanctuary. Thane should be able to run around and enjoy himself however he pleases." Atleast that they could agree on. "I want to see him." "I think we should seal the deal first," Thanos insisted as he stroked Loki's face with his finger tips. Loki didn't flinch away. He stood stiff as a statue as he held a steady eye contact. "I want to see him first," he demanded. Summary: Instead of what happened in IW, Loki agrees to take Thanos up on an old offer. Thanos/Loki dub-con because I'm still upset over IW. Perhaps it was insanity, doing what he was about to.

But... Loki clenched his fists, staring at funeral procession below, Helblindi’s eldest child had finally died this morning after a month of suffering from wasting sickness.

The starvation of his homeworld was going on while the Asgardians feasted. He turned to the velvet bag that he’d sacrificed nearly a year of his life to fill with a very valuable offering.

Taking a deep breath, he opened the bag and withdrew the glowing cube from within.

Instantly, he felt stronger, not so hungry. Putting it back, he tied it to his belt and left the palace.

The mountain was called the ‘Peak of the Realm’. And it’s summit was just right for this ritual.

He withdrew the cube again and drew his knife. Using it, he cut his palm and drew tunes in the snow.

“Tyrant, King, Conquerer, come to me, find that which you desire.” He chanted softly, sending the Tesseract’s power like a beacon into space.

Also, it occurred to me after I’d reblogged my own response that I do recall reading (and losing track of) a fic I read a few years ago where Loki was basically captured by Thanos, bred, and forced to birth several children who grew up as warriors and then turned on their father and helped their mother escape. I think Thor was a slave/bedwarmer given to Loki because Thanos didn’t care about pleasing Loki, he just wanted heirs. I think it might have been an AU? I tried searching AO3 for it today with no luck. I think it might have been written by one of my fellow thorkis and/or peers/associates, so if this sounds familiar to anyone out there, help a Bender (and an anon) out!
