If Henry was a Warrior Cat, what kind would he be? Are there different kinds? Or is there like, a Warrior Cat character he's similar to?
I THIIIINK He'd be a ShadowClan warrior — usually they're slotted in the role of antagonists and I think it'd be really fun to see a guy who holds honour and community in such high regard like Henry in a place like that.
He's a warrior who helps around the medcat den occasionally and his name should be something like... Ashenstrike. Ashstorm. Ashheart. idk. he's a grey tabby like this
and he's almost a carbon copy of radzig (gullstar?). Martin is Brown and Jana is cream. thank god warrior cats genetics isn't real.
When preparing to write this PrUK story, I pretty much immersed myself in Napoleonic history for weeks. Everything I looked at was somehow related to Mr. Bonaparte in some way, from memes to movies, and that's how I found the 1970 film Waterloo, which is just fantastic. I'm a visual learner, but there weren't any photographs in 1815, so it was hard to get an idea of what the Battle of Waterloo REALLY looked like. Paintings were made, sure, but they were made with artistic intention, and I really wanted something more accurate. Finding that Waterloo film was a godsend, because the accuracy in it is phenomenal; it's been praised by historians. Check it out, if you can!
I could go further into all the research I did, but I don't wanna bore anyone, so I'll talk a bit about Prussia's characterization.
He's such an interesting guy. In the early Hetalia strips Prussia comes across as this cocksure scoundrel with not too many redeeming qualities, haha. But as time went on, Hima fleshed out his personality and made him more well-rounded. If you go back and look at older Hetalia fanfics from 2011, you can see this BIG difference in how fans have interpreted his personality over the years. Now it's more common I think to emphasize his intellect and how kind he can be towards his family. (Maybe that's just me though, haha.)
So, it was a challenge figuring out how he'd interact with England. Most fics have him talking with Germany, Austria, Hungary, etc. There's also a massive fan-focus on his death, which is totally understandable, but you know, it makes it hard when you're trying to figure out how to write Prussia in 1815, long before his demise. Before he even meets Germany!
I was worried for a long while that I might fumble his character. But I tried to focus on the main facts. He's smart, he enjoys engineering, he writes journals, he's confident, he comes from a disciplined background, he's laid-back in social settings, he's not afraid of getting drunk, and he admires Old Fritz. That's the base I started from when writing Prussia. And once I knew how he behaved, it was easier to imagine how England might react to him.
