the room isn't unfamiliar with him-- he's on his ship. granted things do look just slightly altered. . . some colors seem to be missing && things, perhaps, seem a bit larger. everything is glittering as if it were still bran new as well. it's an unnerving feeling, really. he's been on his ship once before where it was familiar && unfamiliar at the same time && that did not go well. alternate universes were quite a dangerous thing.
footsteps announce the presence of someone else entering & he looks up && is almost relieved at the sight of his first officer------
almost. because, after looking at spock a while, he sees just tiny differences. he looks. . . younger. jim straightens himself, though; he got out of the last alternate universe by playing along && perhaps he can do it with this one.
"mr. spock. er-- how can i help you?"
