Her mom had always told her that her loose limbs would get her in trouble some day. The problem was that Lizzie didn’t know how to talk about something she was passionate about, whether it was work or politics or Game of Thrones, without making sweeping gestures to punctuate her words. It just didn’t feel like talking unless her hands were doing half of it, because she wanted to make sure that whatever she was saying, the person she was talking to understood. Tonight the topic at hand was Donald Trump, which meant her body was practically vibrating with the roiling, frustrated energy that seethed through every sentence. Shaking her head, she jabbed her finger with each word, like she could knock some sense into his head through the fabric of space and time just with the sheer force of her will. “AND THEN HE SAID HE SENT THE BOMBS TO IRAQ!” she fumed, throwing up a hand at the sheer absurdity of it all, never expecting to hear the distinct crack of fist meeting face. “Oh holy shit, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” She was out of her seat in an instant, looking around to see who she’d caught in the crossfire.
It wasn’t often that James enjoyed the luxury of having a night off from his busy work schedule, so when the opportunity presented itself to him, he always liked to make the most of it. With nothing particularly gripping planned for the evening, the actor had dragged himself to one of his favourite eateries in the Los Angeles area. It was a definite hot spot, well known among fellow actors or people of a higher class, which was why James always favoured it - there was a certain kind of serenity there that came along with knowing you wouldn’t get hassled too much for a “quick photo” with a mouthful of linguine.
That was until, chaos quite literally came bounding into his face while he made his way over to the bar to order another drink. It took a few moments for him to realise what the hell had happened - and for the dull ache to kick in - it wasn’t until Lizzie began apologising profusely that James realised he had just been whacked a good one by her fist. Oddly enough, they had engaged in their first conversation not so long ago, and yet, this was how they were formally meeting. “Shit, that’s one hell of a right hook you have on you...it’s Lizzie, right?”.
