Free/Subsidized Parking and Transit Subsidies
Free/Subsidized Parking and Transit Subsidies
Interesting article at Citylab on parking and transit subsidies in the US. It’s definitely a good study in human behaviour. Apparently, the “fairness” of transit subsidies that match parking subsidies given to employees does not really pan out.

Do you know how the compass card will work for students? Is it a set number of rides or unlimited or limited by a set cost covered by UBC?
It’s unlimited, just remember to “load it up” before the beginning of each month.
Do we tap in/out with our compass cards if we take the skytrain?
I don’t think the gates are fully functional right now, so tapping in or out won’t do anything. You’re suppose to tap in/out for the bus though.
The U-Pass/Compass Card is coming for June 1st! Summer students, pick up your Compass Card starting on May 16th at the UBC Bookstore, the old SUB or UBC Robson Square!
Spread the word!
I read an article on vancitybuzz i think, saying that summer school students will be the first to get the compass card. Then what happens in May? How do we get the compass card and where will it be distributed?
I’m sure UBC will let us know when it comes down Compass Card distribution time. In the mean time, you can pick up your May U-pass from the SUB or Bookstore as per usual.
CTA U-Passes are now active for all full time students!
Hey guys, CTA U-Passes are now active for all full time students! Distribution for passes has started in The Student Services Building (SSB) at 1200 W. Harrison. Make sure to bring your UIC i-Card along to pick up your U-Pass. Keep in mind that if you already have a U-Pass you will NOT need to pick up a new one as they will automatically activate. If you've got any questions about U-Passes call the UIC ID Center and talk to a U-PASS administrator. Safe Travels!
Does york have a U-Pass program like Queens and UBC, at all? to clarify a pass that is included in tuition?
Unfortunately not.

We do have a Student Saver card if you’re interested in getting that.
