Blog101 - Week Seventeen
One of the most awaited days has come. We had our final pitching last Thursday, October 5 at the ICT AVR. I can feel the pressure and I know that all of us are nervous knowing that all the judges are very familiar in the business industry. As per my team, I have entrusted my co-member Almira as assigned by Engr. Bronson himself, to pitch and represent our startup. I know that she’ll do good since she is the most experienced in our team. Not knowing the exact order of the program has added pressure to all of us. I know it took us weeks to prepare but I’m quite sure most of us weren’t that ready with our respective presentations. It was quite relieving seeing other teams doing final touches on their slides, knowing that you are not the only one who is not yet ready. Aside from our team presentation, we were worried with our prototype because it wasn’t done yet but mostly the important functions are already there. Knowing that we are not the first one to pitch has our advantage since we will be able to observe and know how the judges will judge each of us, hence it also made us worried since the first presenter left a good impression from the judges.
So far, I can say that our presentation was well delivered. The judges liked the idea of UBAS. Also they gave us some important points to improve our startup like how to get more revenue so our startup can survive not just within a number of months. We will be using the consignment arrangement in our startup as suggested by Mr. McCorkle. Although there were questions left unanswered, I can say that my team did a great job most especially in doing our own designated task to make that day a success. However due to the lack of time, not all teams was able to present so it will be continued the following day. Good enough for them since they’ll have enough time to prepare and practice for their presentation. The best 7 teams will be advanced to the final demo day which will be on October 11 wherein they’ll be facing different crowd and investors who they’ll be impressing to invest in their said startup.
