Überkerle
Did you know that all music is a higher revelation?
I thought that an “interesselose Anschauuag” would be
good for starters, but really, look for me somewhere
at the bottom of the noiseless pool without any love.
What cannot be said or expressed should be thrown
in the fire or choked on, don’t you agree?
To pull off such a stunt as if to confound....
Ah non, pas si bête que ça!
I can hardly breathe in this mystical year.
What one wouldn’t do for a dupe!
Let’s have a brief discussion about basic principles.
It’s summer in December in New York City
and there’s no snow for Xmas.
Yet still, there’s pure-fingered musicians making
third-class noise in dirty New York subways.
Poloaritelnaya parochka: two ice skaters with those
sea green eyes going the distance, all dressed
in straub black, without spirit, imagine it!
Just a bundle of flowers, really, is all that it is,
but who’s our modern champion?
Let me tell you plainly and justly, that I have
become an American automaton, but I can’t smile
so I am inclined to think that I’m broken.
I can be hired to be an extra man
at extravagant parties,
or I can be an “extra” in your movie,
or if you want to stay in my country
I will marry you, and I will sit quietly there
while you fill out the papers
and we can both watch the hours expire.
I’m available and I’m riskless and without a fee.
Do I get to stay anywhere else
that resembles warm home
but this strange and cold square box?
