You talk to a lot of Canadian artists. When it comes to substance in the music, do you think there is a difference in what is coming out of Toronto compared to the industry in general? Can you share some examples where an interview with an artist to talk about their music touched on a bigger picture social issue? Who are some of the artists that you gather the most inspiration from? This is a glimpse into what we will be touching on with Chedo. Chedo is the host and founder of @thecomeupshow - a podcast and website dedicated to Hip Hop culture. Celebrating 10 years of production, “The Come Up Show” has become a leading platform in documenting Hip Hop in Canada. Chedo’s passion for radio was sparked in 1996, when he arrived in Canada and discovered was his love of Hip Hip. In 2007, Chedo found his way onto the airwaves on 94.9FM in London, Ontario in a 2am-6am overnight slot, where he began paying his dues. Eventually, he found his way into a Monday afternoon in the schedule when he founded “The Come Up Show”. Interview after interview, his skills as an interviewer and his vision for the show grew. Eventually, the platform expanded from a radio show to include a blog, video interviews, and a podcast. One of the things that defines Chedo’s approach as a host is his exhaustive research. He approaches artists as people first, and is just as interested in learning about the family and community experiences that have shaped an artist, as he is in their single, album or tour. The goal, always, is building the trust that will give listeners interviews that they will remember and will be impacted by. What artists played a role in shaping and expanding your worldview? As an Emcee, how do you balance challenging their audience, while still connecting with them? For you and the artists you have recorded with over the years, how do current events and the concerns of a given moment affect the process of making a song? These are some of the questions we will be diving into with Eternia. Eternia is considered one of Canada’s foremost Hip Hop lyricists, with two Juno nominations and five full-length recordings. Her voice has been a part of shaping the legacy of music in Toronto for almost 20 years. Canadian collaborations include super-producer MoSS, Shad, Maestro Fresh Wes, Kish, Dan-e-o, Moka Only & Thrust. She has also recorded with Hip Hop legends Rass Kass, Rah Digga, Joell Ortiz. She has toured extensively in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Australia, & Europe having been billed with superstars such as Nas, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, MC Lyte and Roxanne Shante, Jully Black & many more. Eternia exercises her passion for media, and the arts by mentoring youth through the Ada Slaight Youth Arts Mentorship Program and the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic. French architect Michel Ecochard, also trained as an archeologist, was the director of the Morocco Department of Urban Planning from 1946 to 1952 within the context of the French Protectorate of Morocco. In this role, Ecochard led huge urbanization programs, mostly in the Casablanca area. First,...
