The red strings of fate.
They're always there tied into your fingers connecting you to your fated one. No matter what you do you can never break it. The strings may strain or tangle up but they'll never break unless one soulmate dies. You so desperately wished that was the case. So desperately wished that you could've avoided your fate of this life.
You were desperate to get away from the horrors of the strings that seemed to grow shorter and shorter every day, as if whomever was on the other side was closing in faster and faster everyday. Normally one would be thrilled to meet whomever was on the other side but ever since it appeared, you had the intense fear coursing through your body. You couldn't explain it, just that it was a bad, nauseating feeling in your guts every time you looked at it but no one could help you. After all no one could see your specific string except for the two attached to the red devil. So it's not like you can ask someone to follow it and see where it lead for you. So you had no time to waste.
You picked up and moved once you were old enough to live on your own, parting ways with your family and settling into a new town some decent distance away. You felt so much better after finding a job as a bar maid and getting renting a small room. And all was peaceful for a few blissful months. Nothing to worry about or fear.
That was until you noticed the string got shorter once again.
You were just cleaning a few tables at your job when you looked down and to your horror saw that the red strings wrapped around your finger wasn't dragging the floor anymore. Instead of seemed to be levitating in thin air, as if someone was holding it up off the ground. You froze staring at your hand like a ghost had suddenly appeared before you.
"Miss L/n?", a man's voice suddenly asked behind you.
You jumped, whirling around wide eyed at the figure behind you. And then froze. There was a man there. A very..strange one. Piercing purple eyes instantly snapped through to your very soul. Soft features including a smile and beautiful silky ink shoulder length black hair was what you were greeted with, and what scared you was the intensity of those eyes that looked dilated and piercing despite his otherwise soft features.
"Y-Yes?," you trembled with the unknown fear and dread coming back to you ten times over. The instinct to run was huge and heavy weighing on you. "W-Who-..?"
"My name is Kagaya Ubuyashiki." A weak but sudden hand on yours made you flinch as he squeezed with a purpose. "I've been wanting to meet you for quite a long time."
He had indeed been waiting for her fur quite some time. For his visions had for told him of his future wife ever since he was was young. Since even as a young boy he's been looking forward to meeting her forever. Loosing his brothers, his parents, and many close friends ..The one thing that stayed consistent was his visions of her. She was his rock when he slept and had nightmares turn into visions of her surrounded by flowers. When things got hard he'd tried to think about her smile and laughs.
He'd prepared everything for her arrival. His visions told him she liked wisteria trees so he made sure one was in his personal garden. She adored the color f/c so he was sure to get a few decorative pieces in that color for their home. One of those visions had her looking at him smiling and waving while surrounded by five children, so he'd prepared a spacious nursery for them all. However she wasn't where his vision told him she'd be. He'd been confused about it when he arrived at her house, the EXACT one he had seen in his visions, and found the red strings leading far away from it. He had already prepared a speech and sizable dowry to give to your parents for your hand in marriage. His confusion and hurt only rose when knocking on the door and inquiring about her only lead to the news that you had ran off the day you came of age and they hadn't seen you since.
He was devastated. Why had she run off? Why didn't she wait for him or follow the string to come to him? They were supposed to be together. His visions told him so and they were NEVER wrong. He had to find you. Even if it took him forever to get there. Because you two were meant to be together.
After all the red strings could never be broken or cut. Always connecting you both to each other.
"How many families have you ruined? How many people have you eaten? How are you suffering? I am not cruel. I am simply upholding what I stand for. So many people have lost their lives to demons and yet...they find no solace. You and your clan shall pay for that with your lives."
