Small Spaces (w/uchiha-no-ko)
It was bound to have fallen off. She knew that she shouldn’t tie what was intended to be a necklace around her wrist. Her hands were tiny to begin with. I’ll catch it if it falls off, no problem. It was a mistake.
The fallen necklace-turned-bracelet was the cause of her current situation, she would say, but that’d be a lie. It was her misuse of an object, mixed with small hands and partial bad luck with a little bit of carelessness.
Chihaya at the moment was on her knees, trying to reach down a storm drain to grab the fallen item. It just had to fall down there. Why couldn’t it have fallen just on the ground instead? While her hands were small, they were not nearly small enough to reach below the bars on the storm drain past her forearm. Shit. I look ridiculous.
The navy-eyed young woman looked around for something she could use to help her when she spotted a little girl. Chihaya thought to herself, I wonder if she’d be able to reach it. She’s so little.
She raised herself to be standing straight on her knees and waved to the girl to catch her eye. She called out to the girl when curious eyes looked over, “Ne, little girl, would you mind helping me out? I’ve dropped something that I can’t reach.”
