Jean Silva submits Bryce Mitchell in the 2nd round!

Jean Silva kills nazi sympathizer dead by choking him out in the 2nd round.

Was a bit touch and go there for a while. Mitchell, while a dumbass in ever other aspect of his life, is not a dumb fighter. The game plan seemed to be to eat away at Silva with kicks at the very very end of range. Front kicks up the middle and to the thigh and outside leg kicks to the lead leg while in open stance match up. Force Silva to follow, get frustrated and commit so you can shoot underneath. Problem is Silva is cheat codes. When Mitchell did shoot, he had a guillotine locked and loaded. Used ninja chokes to escape position along the fence and eventually found his home for the big crushing overhand in the 2nd. Sent Mitchell to the floor. Let Mitchell back up and while they were tied up along the fence, he locked up another ninja choke. Mitchell tried to go to his back to defend but just ended up tapping before going out.

It's a good day when a fascist loses.

Paddy Pimblett {-150} DEFEATS Michael Chandler {+125} via 3 round KNOCKOUT on UFC 314. Won’t go 5 rounds {-500} & Pimblett wins inside the distance {-120} hits!

Paddy vs Chandler has some real comedic potential. I don't like either guy and I quite hate Chandler, but there's so much potential for some stupid shit. Chandler should win, but he's also dumb enough to trick himself into losing.

Alexander Volkanovski takes the UD over Diego Lopes. He is your FW champion again.

A niptuck performance in spots for the 2x featherweight champion. I'mma have to rewatch that one tomorrow. My senses are dulled at 1am. But Volk took advantage of Lopes' discomfort with leading, forcing him to come forward. Volk was able to dip underneath on a lot of shots, circle out and tag Lopes. The overhand was on full go mode as well. Wish I had more to say but I'm too tired. Tomorrow.

Paddy Pimblett stops Michael Chandler in the 3rd round!

First off, best performance of Pimblett's career by a long shot. Took out Chandler's legs with those kicks. Fought off the early td attempt and really wore on Chandler. Was landing almost at will with the straight punches. Was freaking bolo-punching Chandler when he tried to level change. Then when he did decide to tie up with Chandler, he threw him around. Easy. Got him down and bullied him from mount until the ref had to save Chandler.

Secondly, Chandler is cooked. Got beat up in front of his dad and everything. Was just straight up running away at points. When fighters stop trying to counter and don't seem to see punches coming, it's time to hang em up. All the things that made Chandler a competitive fighter seem to have disappeared. It was kind of evident when he fought Oliveira last November but it's especially evident now.

Honestly, I still don't think Pimblett is a 'good' fighter. He's got physical gifts and some smart ideas about fighting but his actual mechanics are just straight bad in a lot of respects. Like the things that Jared Gordon made him pay for are still in his game. But honestly, the division is old so being big and dangerous in some regard might be enough. Look at Diego Lopes.

A good card for the most part, though there are like 4 names on here I could do without ever seeing again.

Rewatching Volkanovski-Lopes now that I'm awake enough to appreciate it.

Classic Volk through the first. Exploiting how reactive Lopes' entire game is. Using feints and movement to force Lopes to follow him around the cage. The left hook he sent Lopes flying into the cage with was very Condit-Hardy coded. Volk got lower and kept things shorter (plus was the initiator) so he hit the target first and hardest. The rush into the clinch off the fake level change and using the threat of the knees to lock up Lopes' right arm was a thing of beauty.
