E ELE SE SENTOU SATISFEITO SABENDO QUE FEZ TUDO #BMF
UFC are on a new billion $$$ deal and a potential new audience on CBS and decided that Cody Brundage was going to be the 1st face they see.
If that doesn’t show everyone is asleep at the wheel, I dunno what would.
Charles Oliveira dominates Max Holloway to take the UD.
Was surprised how many people thought that Max's new back foot style game where he counters guys coming forward was going to be able to shut down Oliveira. Not cause Max isn't good at it or anything, but because it would put him in position along the cage for Oliveira to just continuously shoot if Max couldn't scare Oliveira off pressuring. A thing no one has been able to do in years. Oliveira knew his path to victory was forcing Max on the cage and making him wrestle. One of Max's go to defense is the overhook on one side while breaking the grip with his free hand and circling out. That works best when you are the taller opponent.
Against Oliveira, who is about the same height but much stronger, that just invited Olivera to play in the tight waist cinch and body lock positions where he was chucking Max around like a wrestling doll. And when he got Max down, he was not letting him back up. The explosiveness off the bottom is gone from Max's game. And combine that with his habit of giving up his back to scramble up, it made for a nightmare scenario against Do Bronx who is one of the most dangerous back take artists in MMA. Holloway did well to defend submissions but got taken down in 5 rounds and was only able to get back to his feet in the last minute of the 5th.
Great all around performance and revenge win for Do Bronx, though I'm sure many people are upset we didn't get the brawl promised by the BMF logo and two of the most exciting fighters in the history of the sport.
I don’t know if this is the worst UFC card I’ve ever watched, but it certainly feels like it so far.
Drew Dober KOs Michael Johnson in the 2nd round!
Can always count on the vets at lightweight. Dober and MJ have a decent fight trading shots from range. Dober seemed to have trouble with MJ's hand speed. But Dober manages to get Johnson standing straight up in the air behind the lead hand and plants the man with a left hand. Not sure if the follow up was necessary cause Johnson was OUT.
Dober is the UFC Lightweight KO king, picking up his 11th (T)KO victory. I think that puts him at #3 overall behind Matt Brown and Derrick Lewis for most UFC (T)KO stoppage wins.
