Library Trip/ Mini Zine

In Special Collections, I was so inspired by the variety of ways art was integrated into text and how different fonts and graphics could make a black and white zine look dynamic. My zine features some of my favorite pranks Jim pulled on Dwight during The Office. I’ve narrowed it down to four, although there are probably enough to write a complete dissertation on.

Many of the moveable books had very interesting parts, but this piece of Alice in Wonderland was the most interesting to me because it visually represented a piece of the story in such an interesting way that I felt even more drawn into the interactive story than the others that I had read.

I really enjoy the complexity of this movable book. There are components, like the piglets enjoying their house, that add on to the story. The story itself is shaped in an accordion style, which allows it to fit inside the house shaped book. It is really unique and it definitely adds to the reading experience of such a commonly, yet enjoyable story.

In this book there are multiple layers of paper that create a 3-D effect.  Im amazed at how the pieces perfect fit together to condense into the single page. This was also a cute story.

I thought these were two great examples of moveable books. In the first book, the reader pulls a tab to create action on the page. By pulling the tab, the reader causes the princess to open the box and reveal its contents. The second example is similar because it also creates motion on the page. However, in this example, the reader flips open a small flap on the page to cause a turning motion with a 3-D mummy piece and reveal more of the storyline.
