Brand Spotlight: LYDC/Anna Smith/DSUK
They have 3 main brands as far as I'm aware, LYDC, Anna Smith and DSUK. Each one of these, I feel personally, has something to offer in the way of gyaru fashion accessories.
Their main product is bags, although they also do lovely purses. The bag types vary from handbags, 'going out' bags and even travel bags!
LYDC "LYDC is a brand that offers exceptional quality combined with strong design credentials. Classic shapes with a modern twist underpin the collection, ensuring that the LYDC woman is on-trend and fashionable. " (source)
I personally love the look of LYDC bags at the moment. There's a lot of vibrant block colour going on, as well as pieces featuring animal print and faux fur - my favourites!
The prices aren't too extortionate either, ranging from about £15-£30 for a bag and £10-£15 for a purse!
I think LYDC is just a fantastic little bag brand. It has something for everyone, and I feel you could easily match up most of these bags with most of the many different styles of gyaru! & with the price tag, you can afford to have as many bags as you do outfits!
Anna Smith "Anna Smith is a brand for the fearless fashionista – offering unique and quirky designs to fashionably faithful individuals. Street-chic fuses with striking combinations of colours and textures to create handbags and accessories that are elegantly urban."(source)
Now the brand of Anna Smith handbags has, and will always be my baby. Some of the designs in the past have been tasteful (in my opinion, at least) replicas of other brands (such as pauls boutique and juicy couture) which has meant that you can have a bangin' bag for a fraction of the price, but now the brand has become a little more established they have, along with the replica designs here and there, created some absolute beautiful bags.
The price bracket for these beauties is a little wider, ranging from £8-£12 (cheaper than LYDC!) for a purse and £15-£40 for a bag. Even then, the bags are much more affordable than most, and from personal experience the quality of these babies is brilliant considering the price you pay!
Just like LYDC, I find Anna Smith bags work for any kind of gyaru style, although maybe not so much the smarter or more delicate looks. There's a nice dark urban feel about some these bags that might not look right with a hime outfit! (That being said, the mangrove and durst pink/white bags look so hime-esque imo!)
DSUK "A brand of heritage and distinction, DSUK handbags and accessories have become synonymous with quality and exquisite design credentials that reflect the history of the brand – fusing beautiful materials with charming vintage detailing." (source)
From what I can tell, DSUK is like the big sister of the brands that come from LYDC/DC Brands. The style is distinctively more 'grown up' in comparison to the others. I quite like it, although not really my cup of tea, I think they would match a smart outfit beautifully.
The price range for these bags reflects their difference compared to the other brands, too. Going by the website alone, they start from about £25 and end at £55.
There are a few bags in this collection which would look fab with a few different gyaru styles. There's a bit of leopard print here and union jacks there, and some beautiful faux fur pieces which I have just died over. It's a lovely brand, much more oneegyaru/hime and similar style appropriate.
(( All that being said, there's no definitive style of bag to have for your gyaru interest. I lovelovelove bags and have some that sometimes don't match my outfit at all but I use them anyway cause I think they're cute aha! ))
All these three brands are found in the same place, on www.lydc.co.uk/ It's uk based, with the standard shipping being at around £5, more depending on how soon you want it etc.
I personally haven't bought my AS bags from the website (I'm too obsessed with ebay for that! :P) so unfortunately I can't comment on delivery times!
I hope this was of some interest, and if anyone shops these brands please let us here at the UKGG know what you think!
