So I’ve been seeing this article float around, and I am really annoyed and angry at the misinformation present in this article, and extremely disappointed that Slate would run it.
“The best part? Under the law, the legislature’s decision is “not reviewable” by the courts. Republican legislators can simply step in, overturn the decision of the voters, and grant McCrory another term. The courts have no authority even to review the legality of their actions.”
Nevermind that the idea of McCrory wanting the election to be kicked to the General Assembly is thus far just a conspiracy theory, the quoted part is not true whatsoever. Yes, NC electoral law states that the legislature’s decision is not review-able. BY STATE COURTS. But the federal courts? The federal courts are entirely within their authority to review the legality of the case. Various electoral law experts have stated that federal courts most definitely would take a “very close look”
The author is fully aware that the implication of the paragraph is that the decision cannot be overturned by the Supreme Court (or US Court of Appeals) -- which is absolutely not true whatsoever. If this actually happens, you bet your ass Cooper’s team will contest in federal courts.
Sensationalism and misinformation from the left is just as bad Brietbart. Because of this article, I am now concerned that any news I may receive from Slate is exaggerated and a distortion of the truth. Media, especially in the next four years, should be fighting to tell the truth and to inform voters. We should not stand for these types of articles -- even if they’re on “our side”
I think the media should learn not to take advantage of Taylor and her friendships and relationships to get views. It's like they completely forget she is a human being..
