Gonna ignore Ruin being dead. In my brain, he's working with the new Overseer barista guy and being a mentor figure type by helping Overseer figure his shit out while steering him away from the path of The Old Overseer (who acted as judge, jury, executioner just like Ruin did w/ The Creator Council), in order to show how far Ruin has come character-development wise and complete his arc. Like, trust me, you DO NOT want to start a murder spree because you think it's "good for the multiverse" or something, New Overseer, the guilt is killer. Instead of doing what your predecessor (and me) did and executing your own idea of justice, let's travel through the multiverse going on weird and wacky adventures while trying to help people so I can repay my massive murder debt over the next several thousands of years and do something besides wallowing away in my own misery and, meanwhile, you can learn how to use your powers and build your character out! This mentorship will complete my personal character development by allowing me to finally face my mistakes head-on and do something to try to make amends for them, just like I promised my good friend, Puppet, and it will give YOU something to do with your new position so you can begin your own character arc about discovering who YOU are going to be as the next Overseer of The Universe while giving you a peek (ha-ha!) at what sort of depressed creature you could become should you follow in my past self's + the old Overseer's footsteps!
And then they become essentially-immortal roommates and the vibes are kinda like old, kinda-kooky war vet who has much heavy wisdom to bestow and his kinda-clueless young, twenty-something-year-old companion currently through his coming-of-age story, whom old war vet guy picked up and feels responsible for. satisfying, cool, and vibes! hurray!!
