I just saw a post saying that Russia has declared war on the Ukraine, and I thought I might clear this up.

First of all Russia and the Ukraine are not at war, at least not yet. Russian troops that do not bare the insignia of Russian forces and so cannot be officially identified, have moved into the Crimea and occupied certain strategic points. Now the new Ukrainian government has put it's troops on standby as a warning. Now if it officially announced that these troops are Russian, then I think technically it is an act of war as the Russians have invaded and occupied a certain area of another country. I believe this is an act by the Russian government to stop the Ukraine from joining the EU after the recent Euromaidan protests that aimed to do just that.
