On January 31, 2025, a Learjet 55 medical transport crashed in northeast Philadelphia after take off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, killing a pediatric patient, 2 doctors, 2 pilots, and a family member.
This tragic incident occurred just 2 days after, an American Airlines jet collided with a military helicopter near Washington, D.C. where 67 individuals lost their lives on January 29, 2025.
And 24 years after the deadliest US air disaster on November 12, 2001, when an Airbus A300-600 operated by American Airlines Flight 587 crashed in Belle Harbor, Queens, New York shortly after takeoff from JFK Airport. The crash resulted in the deaths of all 251 passengers and 9 crew members onboard, as well as 5 individuals on the ground.
