Random (personal) hobie headcanon:

so I know there's a significant amount of people that headcanon Hobie as being of caribbean ancestry (although maybe an interesting headcanon would be of him being part african like his VA) and I do TOO so here's the thing

you know Multicultural London English (MLE)? A multiethnic dialect of growing immigrant communities in London back in the early 80s or so? A dialect born out of cockney + those people's own regional (south asian, african, caribbean, latinamerican etc) slang? It's a dialect that is nowadays much more popular amongst the youth and has common words like "mandem" and "fam". Yeah,

so the headcanon is that, even though Hobie *does* speak mainly in a cockney accent and rhymes because that was just the thing back in the day, early MLE (with caribbean leanings) seeps into his vocab and pronunciation often; either because of his own relatives and childhood, or because of his diverse community influencing him.
