okay so here comes a little yap about thing I noticed while re-reading tokyo ghoul and obviously it's about koori ui again

this picture comes from first volume of tg:re and it shows koori with arima and sasaki, koori here looks exactly like he did in tg, during fight with owl - boyish, carefree and innocent

and when he makes his first appereance in tg:re in volume 3, he still resembles his 'old self' a lot

but when we get to the fourth volume, we can see a visible change from this cheerful, naive boy to a strict, justice-centered man - it is even visible in his apperance, his face expressions

so, my guess is that Ishida changed his mind about koori's role in tg:re during writing - I assume that at beginning, he designed him to stay unchanged from tg (like in the picture) , but then needed a character that would be in opposition to sasaki - that's why koori went through such a big change from his past-self

this is my spontanious take on it and I'm probably overanalysing things, but who knows
