Not Queen related, but I still had to share.
I don't know if y'all have heard of Carson King, but he is a student at Iowa State University who went viral a couple months back at the big rivalry Iowa/Iowa State football game.
A shortened version of the story is that he, as a joke, held up a sign at the game with his Venmo and a message about his beer supply being low. He never expected people to respond, but soon he had a couple hundred dollars, and decided he'd buy one case of beer and donate the rest to the U of I Stead Family Children's Hospital (the one that overlooks the football field, where both teams and the crowd always turn and wave to the kids after the first quarter) and within 3 weeks, this man was a hair shy of $3 million, which he donated, and had been contacted by Anheuser Busch (there's more to that story, but it's not so nice in the end so I'll leave anyone who is interested to look it up).
I just learned today that there is a little boy in Bondurant, Iowa named Sam who decided he wanted to be Carson King for Halloween. He made a sign that his root beer supply was low with a Venmo his mom set up, and went around trick-or-treating for donations for the hospital. As of Thursday, this little guy has raised aver $15,000, including a $1,000 donation from Dad's Root Beer, and they're sending him a stockpile of root beer.
How freaking cool is that? These two have managed to recharge my dwindling faith in humanity, all stemming from a silly joke at one of the biggest college football games of the season. #ForTheKids
