Spotlight: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
TASC has grown since it initially started in the spring of 1992. Originally, it started when five Taiwanese American students formed a group to discuss various issues concerning their identity. Eventually, their concerns and interests attracted many others and TASC grew to a membership of over 100 students. TASC has responded to the intimidating large group setting by forming smaller “families” where individuals are better able to share intimately with one another.
Our goal is to develop a family-like community that emphasizes openness to discussing topics such as Asian American identity, topics concerning Taiwan, multiculturalism, and relevant APIA issues.
