With the school pickup successful, we started venturing on a bit of a stroll where there would be a cookie treat at the end of it, but en route, we passed by the Senate House, which is the administrative building for the University of London, and famously served as George Orwell’s inspiration for The Ministry of Truth in his novel 1984. We got to see this on our first trip to London fifteen years ago, but it was really cool seeing it on a sunny day when I didn’t have to juggle my umbrella and my camera. (I’d have to do that a few days later, but we’ll get there eventually.)

The UK pavilion at Expo 2010, known as the Seed Cathedral, was a sculpture structure built by a nine-member British business and government resources directed by designer Thomas Heatherwick. It referenced the race to save seeds from round the world in banks, and housed 250,000 plant seeds at the end of 60,000 acrylic rods projecting from the walls of the building.
