Did anyone else in the uk have relatives that would get mad if you were watching tv shows (usually sitcoms) made in America? Like I distinctly remember my mum saying the phrase “turn this American shit off” for like watching Scrubs. Friends was usually okay, Frasier was safe, Cheers was on thin ice. My mum couldn’t handle Its Always Sunny, it was too much for her.
Not sure if it was my mum trying to control the TV we watched and I’m just uncovering trauma here or if it’s a generational thing for brits hating US telly shows.
It might extend to people from other countries of a specific generation other than the UK as well. I’m genuinely curious, the memory just popped into my head.
The Important Questions
Is it still "lefty loosey, righty tighty" in the UK? Well any other country for that matter.
