Everything about this is fantastic
This week, Hallie sits down with our fabulous intern Paige to talk about songwriting, interning for The Chris Gethard Show, and her incredible TCGS-themed song "Am I Shaving You?" Paige teaches us how to serenade that special someone with the cutest love song ever written about a public access show.
Hallie's Ukelele Army continues it's march to greatness with this cover of "Face to Face" by our dear friends Shellshag, featuring Gethard. Enjoy!
The Ukulele Army is on the move! The newest lesson is up-- it's a really exiting one, because it teaches how to play the TCGS Theme Song. Woohoo! If you're still contemplating joining our ranks, it's never too late. We're having a blast! Check out the message board if you wanna see what we've been up to.
Hey you! Pick up a silly instrument and have some fun with us.
Learning to play this on my uke! So far I can either play the song or sing it, not both at the same time. #bettercoordinationplz
Hey, everybody! Hallie from the LLC here. One of the things I love about TCGS is how interactive it is, how involved the fans are, and how how many friends we've all made through the show because of this. I was thinking about the music on the show, and wishing there was a way for fans to get involved in that, too. Here's what I've come up with: THE UKULELE ARMY.
I just bought my first ukulele and am going to start teaching myself songs from the show on it. I thought it'd be the perfect opportunity to get TCGS fans in on the action; I'll be learning the songs from scratch, and you can learn along with me! I'll be uploading videos every week that will teach basic chords and eventually whole songs… hits like "The Chris Gethard Show Theme Song", "Keep It Calsteady", "Jerkface", "Dan Klein's Song", and more! We'll also learn some original songs, One Direction songs…. anything that seems fun and easy.
Obviously, I'll be teaching the songs on ukulele; and I encourage anyone that's interested to get one, so they can join me on this quest. Ukuleles are fun, and cheap, and easy to transport. But I guess these videos could really be used to learn TCGS songs on any instrument! I'll be doing the ukulele fingering, but I'll be going over the chord structure for all the songs… If you'd like to use the videos to teach yourself the songs on guitar, banjo, recorder, accordion, or whatever-- be my guest! As long as you already know some basic chords on that instrument, or are willing to teach yourself, you should be able to follow along. So, while I really encourage everyone to pick up THE ALMIGHTY UKULELE, all instruments are welcome in the Ukulele Army.
We'll figure out in the coming months how this will work in the context of the show… there may be certain songs that everyone is always invited to play along with from the audience (or at home!). Maybe we'll invite the whole Army on stage to perform a song from time to time… we can really make this whatever we want it to be, and I'm open to suggestions about how to incorporate this into the show every week.
Okay, so, first things first… you need to get a ukulele! Ukulele Army will kick into high gear next week with our first lesson where we will start learning The Chris Gethard Show theme song. DO IT! I'm amped :)
