Ukkokei Ramen Ron
I don’t know...I lot of my friends love Ukkokei’s ramen, but somehow, G and I have visited a couple of times and aren’t as impressed. (Ramen Yushoken still tops our list!)
I had the Shio (Salt) Ramen and G had the Shoyu (Soy Sauce) Ramen, each with a Ajitsuke Nitamago (Seasoned Boiled Egg). Their bowls at regular size were quite large for me, but they actually have BIG sizes which are scarily much bigger than these (I don’t know how a person could actually tackle those)! In terms of taste, both soups were okay, more on the lighter side, but not as rich as we would have liked. They were also generous with the chashu (pork), which was sliced to nice thin layers of meat and fat. Noodles were on the thinner side, and while this may be the standard in authentic Japanese ramen joints, G would have wanted “fatter” noodles. But overall, not bad. I guess we couldn’t help comparing this with our favorite ramen.
