ONE Access, a partnership between CML + CMS
Last week, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library announced that they were partnering with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to provide access to the library to all CMS students, here is the video of the announcement:
The initiative is called ONE Access and allows students to use their school id numbers to check out books and use library resources.
As an educator and former library employee, I can really appreciate what this program provides. In reality, sometimes it’s difficult for parents to keep up with multiple library cards and students nearly always know their school id numbers because most must use it for lunch.
According to this article, the program provides “access to library materials to some 145,000 students in 168 schools throughout the county.” This means that at school, or at home if the student has computer/internet access (but that’s a different matter), students can now access digital materials, research databases, and online homework help with their student id.
