On this date 2 years ago we had the farewell ceremony for Uli in London. He had a good send off with many friends around and we ended up celebrating his life in the most amazing pub, Paradise. Two years later, I feel I'm taking over many of his traits. At first it was experiencing similar physical symptoms to his reaction to chemo, in particular neuropathy in my feet. But now I find myself enjoying things he used to enjoy, but didn't have a high priority for me. For example on a beautiful sunny day like today, I would've rushed down to a beach to sunbathe in the old days. No longer, this morning I had an intense yearning to walk by meadows with wild flowers. This would've been his preference. Although I walked alone to the port via Skarkos, I felt he was with me a lot of the time urging me to walk faster so we'd reach our destination. My walking is different - I stop to look at the flowers & the views, to breathe in the nature & just feel grateful I can experience the beauty of the island in springtime #March2017 #lambisstory #memories #mylifeonios #ioscountryside #mylifeonios #uliandlambi #youarealwayswithmemylovely

#throwback #tbt A memory of a lovely lunchtime at Psathi together. We'd walked through fields before tucking into a delicious lunch at Alonistra taverna. Now, wherever I walk, Uli is with me & pointing out various wild plants and telling me their names. He's happy to be with me on Ios in springtime - & glad I've learned to appreciate meadows as well as beaches. You taught me a lot my love & much of it is helping me now. #throwback As I wandered down to the port looking at the green slopes on either side, I was reminded how we used to wander round the island in springtime. Uli was always more agile than I was & used to have to stop & wait for me. While he was semi comatose 2 years ago, he used to dream about wandering the island again with me. When he was lucid we'd reminisce about the new born goats we'd stumbled upon, the various plants & orchids he'd found and the carpets of wild flowers we'd seen. Not to mention the birds & wildlife we'd come across. Here he is going down the path from our house to Mylopotas beach. We wandered that path countless times together. #throwback I was thinking back to the last few days Uli was in hospital. He used to get very agitated and attempt to escape from his hospital bed to go & pack his banana boxes & bags so we could catch the ferry/plane/train to our next destination. We loved travelling. Here he is in our bungalow in Koh Samui in Thailand. We had utilised the school break to escape from the deprivations of a Munich winter (= no sun). I'm glad his last days were filled with dreams of travelling with me. He'd ask me several times if I'd got the tickets & arranged for a cab to take us to the port/airport/ train station. Travelling together were happy times for both of us. Now he is no longer travelling physically, I carry him in my heart wherever I go #memories #lambisstory #uliandlambi #imissyousomuchmylovely (at Ko Samui)

Uli's reaction when I told him what had been going on in the world since he's been gone. He was not impressed. Before you put me down for for using a photo of somebody who can no longer respond, may I tell you that we discussed everything while he was alive. We often had different opinions, but I know what he'd think about the situation in the world today. Enough politics for now, I'm going for a walk to try & find some flowers.
