So, something I’ve actually been wanting to do a write up on is Sora & Vanitas’s relationship through eyes.
Of our main cast (and it is now a lot of characters) we have three characters with a covered eye at some stage. Braig/Xigbar/Luxu is one, but we saw how he lost his eye, and while it’ll come up again it’s not relevant to this post.
The other two are Sora and Vanitas.
Sora’s right eye (our left) is covered in both Monstropolis and Halloween Town for no discernable reason. And, because of this, there is not a mainline title where he doesn’t have his right eye covered at some stage.
Whilst Vanitas’s mask uncovered from right to left, both when it’s first removed in BBS, and again when it cracks in KH3. So he has his left eye covered.
The only other example is Ventus himself, who’s helmet cracks when he’s frozen to reveal his right eye.
In addition, the currently-only direct boss battle we have against Sora is called ‘The Eye of Darkness’.
So, at the very least, there’s something in that equation— it’s too deliberate on too many occasions.
But— we know that Luxu and Ventus are from the age of fairytales to begin with. Luxu himself definitely interacts with MoM. Sora is not.
A key and distinguishing factor about The All Seeing Eye (MoM’s eye) is that it has a cat slitted eye, something we have not seen on anyone in the game, ever. And the times Sora has his eye covered is when he takes on a monstrous form....not to mention that Sora in general has close ties to cats/lions, coming across in his beta form, Pride Lands form, and monstropolis form. The No Name Keyblade? It’s not a goat.
It’s a horned lion.
