"Remember me?"
(ehhhhh pretend this is actually from Galina's account lmao)
There was a reason the vodka was called U'Luvka. And not just because of the wave the bottle took on - the palate was light for a vodka; slightly buttery, sweeet notes with a heady hint of spice in the background. Crisp and light. Easy to drink ... and there was a danger that came with that ease.
Too easy to drink. And it had a habit of getting one drunk from the legs up, hence the name U'Luvka - Polish for Legless.
That voice went with a face that deserved a true welcome. A blink of disbelief, a wordless gape of a mouth and a breathy demand of where she had been. That was how Mikhail would have reacted before. Before now. Before he had been sent back to a re-education camp in Kolyma.
Before he had buried his head in the proverbial sand and drowned his sorrows with whatever alcohol that had been available in the gulag. Back on American soil now. A promise to Natalia that he would do all within his abilities and capabilities to stop the Red Room at each step they took, but there was still an escape that came with the lack of sobriety.
Lifting his sore head, Mikhail's brow drew up, transparent vodka sloshing as he refilled his glass.
"Я помню, ты обещал больше не уезжать."
